Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G review. Lightweight and thin x high performance, definitely one

I bought the currently on sale Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G (Japanese version) and used it as the main machine for a few days, so I will review it.

exterior

I chose mint green as the color. Some people call it Miku Green because it looks like Hatsune Miku. The body is frosted glass and has a very matte texture. The body itself is very thin and light, so it is easy to slip. If you don't have a case, you might drop it.

The story is a little off, but as the name Mi 11 “Lite” suggests, it will be a low-priced version of Xiaomi Mi 11. I used to own a Mi 11. Although the appearance is similar, there are subtle differences such as a flat display and a flat back.

The Mi 11 Lite 5G is lighter and slimmer, but when I actually held it, the Mi 11 was easier to hold. The fit is good because it gets thinner as you go outside. Weight is not too big. The Mi 11 Lite 5G is a little angular, so if asked which one is easier to hold, it was the Mi 11.

The bottom has a speaker, Type-C connector, microphone, and SIM slot. Regarding the SIM slot, it is an exclusive slot for SIM slot 1 + SIM or Micro SD card. The side has a fingerprint authentication, power button, and volume button.

The Mi 11 Lite 5G is equipped with a 6.55-inch organic EL display. It is not easy to operate with one hand, but it is barely possible by changing the way you hold it. There is almost no “unusually thick bottom bezel” that is common in low-priced smartphones, and I feel that it is a boulder. The processing of the border of the display is also smooth and beautiful.

Color development is quite good as there is only an organic EL display. I am no longer surprised that the number of low-priced smartphones equipped with organic EL displays has increased considerably.

The main body size is 160.5mm in height, 75.7mm in width, 6.8mm in thickness, and 159g in weight. Even if you hold it for a long time, you will not get tired at all. For me, who has only used heavyweight smartphones so far, it is so mellow that it feels uncomfortable. I feel like I understand a little more about the feelings of people who want a compact high-end smartphone.

I was surprised because it has a 4250mAh battery despite such a thin body.

It weighs about 180g with the included clear case, but it's still too light. My main machine, the Galaxy Z Fold 2, weighs close to 300g including the case, so it's cute compared to that.

Benchmark, Usability, Game Performance

I will touch on the usability and benchmark score of Mi 11 Lite 5G. Mi 11 Lite 5G is equipped with "Snapdragon 780G". The benchmark figures are close to Snapdragon 855, and it is no longer a low-end smartphone figure. However, don't overestimate the benchmark scores. Of course, it does not reach the latest high-end in terms of detailed operation feeling.

Antutu Benchmark V9

As a result of 519,571 points. A tremendous number for a smartphone in the $285 range.

GeekBench 5.4.1

GeekBenchmark results are 781 for single core and 2401 for multicore.

I used it as my main machine for a few days, but it's basically stress-free . It also supports a refresh rate of 90Hz, so it works smoothly. It does get a little choppy when scrolling Twitter at high speed, but I don't think anyone in this price range would be dissatisfied with the performance so far. The application switching speed is very fast, and I feel that it is equipped with a Snapdragon 780G.

Don't buy Genshin Player

As for game performance, if the load is not so high, it will work lightly . I often play "Brostar" and "Crow Royale", but I'm not dissatisfied because the Mi 11 lite 5G runs smoothly.

However, depending on the game, it seems that this is not the case, and regarding "Puzzle & Dragons", it is jerky when moving drops or attacking. It's not a very demanding game. After playing for about 30 minutes, it started to get hot from the upper part of the back, and it was moderately hot.

"Haragami" is impossible. I played on the lowest settings, 60fps, and walking is still acceptable. It's hard to say that it's comfortable because it drops to single digit fps during battle or when moving the viewpoint . Or rather, it is not suitable for playing with the settings lowered.

Also, the heat is terrible. It gets so hot that I can't hold it in my hand, so I'm worried that the heat will make my device go crazy if I keep playing for a long time. Mi 11 Lite 5G is not suitable at all, so if you want to play Genshin Impact, don't buy it. Redmi Note10 Pro and OPPO Reno5 A still work, so it can be said that the software of Mi 11 Lite 5G still has room for tuning.

camera

The Mi 11 Lite 5G camera has the following three-lens configuration.

  • Standard: 64 million pixels F1.79
  • Super wide angle: 8 million pixels F2.2
  • Macro: 5 million pixels F2.4

I'll show you some examples of what I've actually done.

As for the color, it is very vivid and looks great when AI correction is turned on.

The portrait is also beautifully blurred and the finish is good, but it does not support OIS (electronic image stabilization), so if you relax, it will be blurred. I don't have a telephoto camera, but up to 5x is pretty clear and can be used regularly.

If you shoot in night mode, you can shoot brighter. The details are rough, but you can't really tell unless you look at them on a PC monitor. After all, it is easy to shake, so it is useless if you do not hold it firmly. Although the number of pixels in the ultra-wide angle is not high, you can't feel the roughness.

with battery

When I measured the time from 100% to 20% battery with the benchmark application "PC MARK for Android", it took about 11 hours.

For my use, it doesn't last for a day and a half. Not particularly excellent. It heats up quite a bit when playing games, so it's going to decrease. I actually used it as my main machine for a few days, but at the end of the day it was about 18% remaining. For light applications, I think that even if you use it regularly with a refresh rate of 90Hz, it will last long enough.

It is wonderful that it has a 4250mAh battery while realizing a middle-high SoC called Snapdragon 780G and a lightweight and thin body. There are not many smartphones that combine these elements, so it can be said that it is a great attraction compared to other products in the same price range. In addition, since it supports 33W fast charging, it can be charged from 0% to 100% in about 1 hour.

biometric authentication

The Mi 11 Lite 5G has a power button and fingerprint sensor on the side. Release speed is instant, there is no dissatisfaction. Recent low-priced smartphones have explosive authentication speeds across the board, so I'm not particularly surprised. Of course, it also supports face recognition.

FeliCa compatible

The Mi 11 Lite 5G is equipped with FeliCa (Osaifu-Keitai) , enabling smooth contactless payments at convenience stores and station ticket gates. However, it is a little inconvenient. In the case of payment using Felica and in the case of contactless payment such as Visa Touch, it is necessary to change the settings in MIUI.

You can change the "Secure element position" in the "Connect and share" item, but when using Felica (such as Suica), you must select the embedded secure element (default setting An error occurs if a different item is selected. HCE wallet must be selected for touch payment (Visa touch, etc.) .Also, you have to wake up with NFC ON. You should be careful when paying with Mi 11 Lite 5G.

AOD cannot always be displayed

There is a function called AOD (Always On Display) that can display information such as calendar and clock on the screen even when the screen is off. I think it's a bug in MIUI, but for some reason it can't be displayed all the time.

There is only an item of "display for 10 seconds after tapping" , and it is impossible to display it all the time . This is a phenomenon that I didn't have when I touched the Mi11 or Mi11 Ultra, so I think it's a unique specification of the domestic version of Mi 11 Lite 5G or a bug.

As AOD function is useful personally, we are dissatisfied. You can always check the time, battery level, and notifications, so it's easy not to bother turning on the power. It's quite disappointing and I hope it will be improved in future MIUI updates.

Overall review

I feel that the Mi 11 Lite 5G is an excellent terminal that is mostly high-level and well-organized. It's a wonderful unit that combines lightness and thinness, so even those who have a high-end machine should have one as a sub-machine. If you don't play games much, you should be able to play an active part as a main machine. Personally, I felt that switching between AOD and FeliCa/touch payment was a negative point. I hope that this area will be improved in future MIUI updates. Also, the waterproof performance is IP53, it does not support wireless charging, and I am worried about heat generation during gaming.

It is sold at a list price of $311 on Amazon, but if you aim for a sale such as OCN Mobile ONE, you can purchase it for $142. It's a level that sells out instantly, so let's always check the latest information.
