Gaming PC "AOKZOE A1" vs "AYANEO AIR PRO Advanced"

I will  start with the Aokzoe A1 then the Ayaneo Air Pro.

AOKZOE A1

Hibeam Co., Ltd., which handles UMPC/portable gaming PCs, lent AOKZOE A1 for a certain period of time, so I will review it.

AOKZOE is an emerging Chinese company. I didn't have a clue how to read it, but according to the Japanese agency, it's "A OK Zoe". We were looking for investment by crowdfunding, but officially to sell the product version in Japan.

The review machine is a storage 1TB model, and the free space after initial setting is about 912GB. Please note that this is a prototype and may differ from the product version.

Overall matte texture. It features a cyber pattern and unique coloring. It has an intake port on the back and an exhaust port on the top.

The screen is an 8-inch IPS liquid crystal (1920 x 1200) that supports 100% sRGB and is quite large. Compared to iPhone 14 Pro, it looks like this.

Larger than Nintendo Switch and AYANEO Air. It's a size close to Steam Deck and ONEXPLAYER, so it's for those who spare nothing for the game.

OS is Windows 11, CPU is Ryzen 7 6800U, GPU is Radeon 680M. Execution memory is LPDDR5. The benchmark scores are as follows. It showed overwhelming 3D performance enough to double the score. In the only special Dragon Quest X benchmark that is highly dependent on the CPU, AYANEO Air PRO ADVANCE fell behind, but AOKZOE A1 wins in most situations.

Please note that the pre-lending machine does not have software for switching TDP at the time of review, and it is unknown whether it is TDP15W or TDP28W. Higher performance can be expected in the production version.

The PC game Cyberpunk 2077, which has rich graphics, also runs smoothly if you lower the settings. If you play with the same image quality setting, it will be stable at a higher frame rate than the AYANEO Air series. It's comfortable except during battles where Aim is required.

With the AYANEO Air, the main body is small and doesn't have much room to spare, so you get the impression that it gets quite hot.

Cheap joysticks are hard to knock down and fall down at once, but this machine's ALPS Pro joystick doesn't have that kind of thing, and it's good, including high-quality materials and the feeling of falling down as you think without applying force. You can play comfortably for a long time.

Equipped with a kickstand, it is convenient for watching videos. It is also possible to play the game more comfortably by connecting the controller separately via Bluetooth. Connecting a wireless keyboard/mouse seems to open up the possibility of productivity applications.

Supports USB PD fast charging. 100W fast charging in the product version.

Browsing and SVOD viewing are alternately carried out while constantly downloading games in the background. Screen brightness is default (above-medium), Wi-Fi is enabled, and operates in "optimal performance" mode. With one hour of use, it decreases at a pace of about 30%. It seems that it will last about 3 hours in normal use except for games.

In addition, while the visibility is such that you can play comfortably indoors without any problems, I felt that the maximum screen brightness was insufficient for use outdoors during the day.

Impression of a large portable gaming PC that can be handled comfortably. I have a feeling that it will be exciting in the future as new options have appeared from emerging.

AYANEO AIR PRO

This is the portable gaming UMPC you've been waiting for!

High Beam Co., Ltd. loaned us the latest model "AYANEO AIR" series high-end model "AYANEO AIR Pro Advance", so we will review it.

The appeal of this machine is that it looks like a switch, and the inside is a gaming UMPC that uses Ryzen and Windows 11 as the OS. It looks very similar to the Nintendo Switch.

The screen is organic EL with good color development, NTSC 109% color gamut, high contrast and very beautiful is a big advantage. In addition, the operation system is good with left and right sticks, cross keys, XYAB, and trigger keys. The power button also serves as a fingerprint authentication. The extent to which you can check strategy information between games is a skill. Comfortable browsing.

AYANEO AIR and AYANEO AIR STANDARD have a battery capacity of 7350mAh. On the other hand, Pro has strengthened the battery capacity to 10050mAh. In addition, the "Pro Advance" in this review has the CPU enhanced to Ryzen 7 5825U.

The AYANEO AIR series supports up to TDP15W, and only Pro Advance can be raised to TDP18W. Fan speed can also be controlled. The fan makes quite a bit of noise, but it's not particularly noticeable outdoors as it blends in with the surrounding sounds.

What you want to be careful about is the position of the rear air supply port and the upper exhaust port. If you inadvertently place it on your foot or cover it with your hand, it will generate a lot of heat, so be careful.

The difference is obvious in the benchmark test. In particular, Pro Advance demonstrates high performance that approaches VAIO Z. If you want to earn a frame rate even a little, you want to aim for the top model.

The merit that can be obtained with a weight difference of 50 g is great. If you play a severe game such as an interpersonal game, you should choose a high-end model rather than regret after losing.

There is not as much difference in thickness as I thought, so it is ant to choose a higher model instead. She personally likes non-Pro because of the feeling that "the weight is the same as the Nintendo Switch and the brain is buggy"

The speakers are stereo. Compared to the latest high-end smartphones, the sound is more muffled, and the resolution is a little lacking. However, it is good for a small size in the UMPC category. It's still good compared to GPD Pocket3's boxy, piercing, and cheap sound. However, the maximum volume is overwhelmingly louder for GPD Pocket3 and business notebook PCs. If you have a larger portable gaming PC, there will be situations where you surround the players and make a lot of noise, but this machine is specialized for personal use and enjoyment, so the low maximum volume shouldn't be a big problem.

Heavy 3D games such as APEX LEGENDS, which is currently a hot topic, will work well if the image quality and resolution are lowered. Personally, I'm a mouse person, and I want to aim for a win when I'm doing it, so it's hard to aim with a pad. By the way, the screen size is not large, so even if the resolution is lowered to HD, it does not matter so much.

Cyberpunk 2077 is comfortable with pads in non-battle scenes. It is easy to operate in the scene where you drive the car yourself. It's fun to walk while looking at the cityscape. Pads will have an edge in racing games and TPS. I haven't played it, but I think Monster Hunter and Elden Ring are also compatible.

Stray, the cat game, was the best. This title is a game that assumes a gamepad, so it is highly compatible with this machine.

Furthermore, in this game, when you start playing, you can set the brightness so that the expression is as intended by the creator. The dark areas are firmly expressed as dark areas so that you can enjoy the atmosphere, so it's perfect for this machine equipped with an outstandingly beautiful organic EL display. If you buy this machine, this is the first title that I would like you to play by all means.

The screenshot itself can be assigned to any physical key and taken at any time. You can check the captured images in the AYASPACE screenshot book.

In addition to RT/LT/RB/LB, the red lines are actually RC/LC keys, which are custom shoulder keys, and can be assigned functions. The author assigns it to software keyboard call and screenshot shooting

What I am dissatisfied with using this model is related to the control software AYASPACE. Occasionally, the key will not be accepted, when logging in from Steam account sync, the input field is too small and it is difficult to log in, and if you switch between two Steam IDs, only games from one account will appear in the list , The screenshot book is slow to load the image list and is difficult to use, and when sharing images from the screenshot book it freezes without progressing. Hope to see improvements in updates.

The screenshots themselves are saved in the following directory, so I think it's convenient to synchronize them normally in the cloud.

  • USERPROFILE (App Data, Roaming, AYA Space, screenshots)

Due to the small size of the screen, I often get stuck in situations where I am forced to perform detailed operations that are typical of a personal computer. There is no problem with the software keyboard for simple research, but it will be difficult to enter long sentences and long passwords. I think it's stressful when you need it outside. For the basic environment construction, I think it would be better to connect the keyboard and mouse with Bluetooth at home and just play games outside.

Since the battery is greatly affected by the title to be played, it is only for reference, but you can play for about 1.5 hours continuously. When I went back and forth to TGS (Tokyo Game Show), I spent my time playing games on the train, but personally I was satisfied because I had it until I got home. I feel that the continuous drive time is roughly the same as the nominal. It also supports 65W fast charging.

It's about the size of a Nintendo Switch, and it's a high spec even though it's extra weight. I've been waiting for a gadget like this.

It's a small gadget that you don't know what to use, but you can play games with high performance. It's not a machine for productivity use, so I think you can close your eyes to various peaky parts. The feeling of various operation systems such as sticks is also good, and the game is easy to play. It's so much fun.

For those who want to play a lot of Steam games on the go, but don't need a large portable gaming PC these days, this is a machine that I would like you to consider.
