Then we will open it. This time I will introduce the 2 on the right. Please refer to another article for 2S. I will introduce the contents. First of all, the manual. Since this is an early sample, the manual is written only in English and Chinese, but the model shipped to Japan will include a Japanese manual.
exterior
I will check the appearance. There is a power button and a microphone on the right side. There is a USB Type-C connector and a microSD slot on the left side. microSD was recommended for UHS-I U3 compatible microSD.
At the bottom there was a hole where a 1/4-inch screw for a tripod could be attached. Many camera accessories can be used as is. There are only two buttons that can be used for operation, this stick and the REC button.
There is a difference about this when lined up with Pocket 2S. Although the body is common, the camera part is longer for the cable. The included case can store the camera smartly and is very convenient. The left side has a hole only for the connector part for charging, and charging is possible while it is stored in the case.
specification
We will check the specifications. I wrote the spec sheet below.
| weight | 127g |
| liquid crystal | 1.3 inch 240×240 |
| sensor | Approximately 12 million pixels 1/2.3 inch sensor made by SONY |
| video resolution | 4K/24p/25p/30p/48p/50p/60p 2.7K/24p/25p/30p/48p/50p/60p FHD/24p/25p/30p/48p/50p/60p/120p |
| bit rate | Up to 120Mbps at 4K60p |
| video extension | mp4 or mov |
| Still image | JPG and DNG compatible |
| Supported mode | Photo/Video/Timelapse/Slow Motion/Panorama Photo |
| others | Video confirmation via Wi-Fi connection/Not waterproof/Electronic zoom/Face tracking |
As far as the specifications are concerned, it seems that all recent trends are suppressed. The sensor is also made by SONY, and 4K can be shot at up to 60 frames. It seems that there is quite a lot of fun to play with, such as supporting RAW by DNG for photos.
connection
By using the Feiyu App provided by FeiyuTech, you can check images and change settings wireless. It's easy to connect, just install the app and complete the registration with your email address to start using it. Press and hold the REC button on the camera side to activate the Wi-Fi connection settings. Simply by reading the QR code on the upper right of the camera display, it will be automatically connected and monitored on your smartphone.
tried it
Without further ado, I tried using it. First of all, it's subtle.
Good gimbal performance
This time, I attached it to the bike I introduced the other day and took a picture. I tried running on the Metropolitan Expressway from a general road, but the motion at the time of the curve is unbearable. Speaking of gimbal, I wanted to shoot something like this! I was able to take a picture of the feeling. I tried to edit it easily, so I will introduce it.
hard to use
First of all, the basic operation is fatally difficult to use. Swiping from the edge of the screen is the same as DJI Osmo Pocket and GoPro, but the sensitivity of the touch panel is the worst, so it is often not displayed in one shot.
Even if it is displayed, swipe from the right end to display the resolution and frame rate for shooting. Where do you change the ISO and shutter speed of the video? Specifications that can not be changed without using the app. And even if you use the app, it's hard to use with two options, auto or full manual. At the very least, I want Auto in the items of ISO and shutter speed.
out of focus
In the first place, I think that this type of camera is based on pan focus, but there were times when the focus was not correct in scenes with movement. I tried to set the focus to infinity, but there was no focus item in the first place. The Metropolitan Expressway after the Olympic Closing Ceremony. The sunrise and the Tokyo Tower in five colors in the distance should have been captured beautifully.
The camera is in focus when the car is stopped, so it may not be strong against vibrations. It's a gimbal to suppress vibration, but...
The hand strap is no longer available on the same day
To see how durable the attached hand strap is, I attached it to the main unit and hung it, but it suddenly broke. It was torn off in the middle, not at the joints or roots. Since it is an early sample, it may be improved in the product version, but it seems that the durability is not so great.
Convenient tripod hole
DJI's Pocket 2 does not have a tripod hole by default, and it was troublesome to install a separate accessory to use the tripod hole. However, Feiyu Pocket 2 can use the tripod hole by itself without using those accessories. What's more, the USB Type-C port is on the side, so you can use existing accessories without worrying about the terminal.
Overall review
Not good. If there is fun to separate like the 2S, there is no problem, but this product is just a degraded version of Osmo Pocket. Buying 2S is more interesting.
Compared to DJI Pocket, the only advantage is that it can be fixed to a tripod without using an adapter. Everything else is inferior. Considering the price, it is natural, but I thought that there was no place to choose 2. If you buy 2, I think you can take overwhelmingly more interesting things by purchasing 2S.
Feiyu Pocket 2S
FeiyuTech, which has become a hot topic in many ways, has a new distributor in Japan, and we borrowed the Feiyu Pocket 2 and 2S. We introduce 2S.
Opened
I will introduce the contents. First of all, the manual. Since this is an early sample, the manual is written only in English and Chinese, but the model shipped to Japan will include a Japanese manual. The author also provided the manual in PDF for the Japanese market, but the translation was solid and I felt relieved. First of all, the main body. A long cable that is very different from conventional cameras stands out.
The body isn't the only big difference from the 2. The 2S has much more luxurious accessories. There are 2 sizes of bands to fix the main body, an attachment to fix the camera to a tripod and fix it with tape, 2 3M tapes, an attachment to fix the main body, and a USB Type-C to Type-A cable.
exterior
I will check the appearance. On the right side there is a power button, a microphone, and a microHDMI terminal that was not in 2. The 2S can also output externally via HDMI, so you can install the camera outside and the main unit inside the car for monitoring on a large screen.
There is a USB Type-C connector and a microSD slot on the left side. microSD was recommended for UHS-I U3 compatible microSD. This one is similar to 2. Nothing at the bottom. Accessories are luxurious instead of being attached.
And the big difference from 2 is that the camera part can be removed. This makes it possible to attach a gimbal camera to locations that were previously difficult to attach.
The included attachment is magnetically attached, so it's easy to put on and take off. With the included 3M tape, you don't even need a tripod. You can come up with various scenes you want to use...! There is a difference about this when lined up with Pocket 2. Although the body is common, the camera part is longer for the cable.
Unlike the solid case of the 2, the 2S is a simple pouch-like bag. I put it in, but there is no cushioning inside, so I need to be a little careful when carrying it. Also, in this state, the size of the pouch is not enough to store it. I think I need another 1 cm.
specification
We will check the specifications. I wrote the spec sheet below.
| weight | 179g |
| liquid crystal | 1.3 inch 240×240 |
| sensor | About 8.51 million pixels 1/2.5 inch sensor made by SONY |
| video resolution | 4K/24p/25p/30p/48p/50p/60p 2.7K/24p/25p/30p/48p/50p/60p FHD/24p/25p/30p/48p/50p/60p/120p |
| bit rate | Up to 120Mbps at 4K60p |
| video extension | mp4 or mov |
| Still image | JPG and DNG compatible |
| Supported mode | Photo/Video/Timelapse/Slow Motion/Panorama Photo |
| others | Video confirmation via Wi-Fi connection/Not waterproof/Electronic zoom/Face tracking |
is it the same as 2? I thought, but the sensor itself seems to be a different thing. Also, the battery capacity is different, the 2 is larger and the 2S has a smaller battery capacity, and it seems that the driving time is shorter accordingly.
tried it
Honestly, what do you do when the gimbal camera is detached? I think it's a lot of people who say. This time I put it on the motorcycle as in 2, but if I separate it, I can do various things .
For example, it can be attached to the wheel part. Mounting a GoPro or Feiyu Pocket 2 at such a low angle can come in contact with the body, and there is a risk that it may come off due to the weight, but if it is separated like the 2S, it is a different story. The gimbal function is installed in the lightness like a drive recorder. It can be easily installed even in places where it was difficult to install .
It's pretty interesting to be able to shoot stable images with a gimbal that looks like the ground is smooth. It just feels like the sky is flying and the dark places are crushed. FeiyuTech Feiyu Pocket 2S on the left and DJI Osmo Action on the right. You can clearly see the difference when you look at the sky and grass. The body can be easily attached by simply using the attached attachment on the handle. A magnet is also included, so you can stick it to the tank, but for safety reasons, it's safer to fix it like this.
You can also attach a camera to the tank part and shoot your hand. In this way, you can attach it anywhere depending on your idea, so you can create a work that is a little different from other people.
By the way, the body attachment rotates in any direction, so it can be fixed vertically.
When I checked the bit rate, I was able to confirm that it was 120 Mbps at 4K60p and about 60 Mbps at the minimum 4K24p. Although the decrease of the battery in the early stage was fast, the end stage was quite sticky.
When mounted on a motorcycle, wind noise and engine noise can cause distortion, so the sound was recorded separately using ZOOM's H3-VR, but it's at a level where you can tell if the internal processing is excellent. It was recorded in I think it depends on the recording location, but I was surprised that even a motorcycle was recorded properly.
dissatisfaction
I don't think the image quality is right. DJI's Osmo Action, which I usually use, has a wide dynamic range and little distortion, so it's perfect for videos, but the 2S either skips or crushes the highlights and shadows, and it looks like a cheap video. It looks like Also, I got the impression that the color was slightly out of alignment. The color temperature is slightly lower, giving the impression that it is shaking green.
There is no problem with the gimbal, which is the key, if it is hand-held, but when vibration is constantly transmitted like a motorcycle, it can be a little stuttering. Also, since there are moving parts like gimbals, waterproofing is not supported.
Convenience is the worst like 2. It's still good if it's just difficult to operate, but the interface design is also messed up. I'm not sure where the item I want to change is. Also, in order to change some setting items, it is necessary to pair the smartphone and change it.
Overall review
If you want a different angle of view, choose Feiyu Pocket 2S!
Since the camera part can be separated and used, it can be placed in places where even GoPro was difficult to install. In addition, it has a gimbal function that can reduce camera shake to some extent. Even if you shoot in a place with a loud noise like a motorcycle engine, the sound will not be distorted.
However, the colors of the images are strange, the highlights and shadows are blown out and crushed, and the operability is also bad, so honestly I can't use it as a main camera, but I can still try to shoot bold images. is good, so please consider using it as a sub camera.
