OPPO Pad Air vs OPPO Find N "review's"
OPPO gave us a tablet terminal "OPPO Pad Air" for a certain period of time, so I will review it.
The housing is 245.1mm wide, 154.8mm high and 6.9mm thick.
The weight is light at 440g.
The back is aluminum alloy. The OPPO Glow part has a unique feel with a slight bump when touched.
Unlike models such as the iPad mini 6, where the volume keys are upside down depending on how you hold it, the roles of the top and bottom keys are always fixed.
To be frank, the performance is low, so browsing and watching videos will be the main uses. Of course, 3D games are not to be expected, but if you lower the image quality setting and compromise the frame rate, etc., it will work.
- AnTuTu v9.4.4: 254365
- Geekbench 5.4.4 Single-Core: 386
- Geekbench 5.4.4 Multi-Core: 1655
- Sling Shot Extreme OpenGL ES 3.1: 1342
- Wild Life Extreme Unlimited: 125, 0.7fps
The screen is a 10-inch (2000 x 1200) liquid crystal. The contrast ratio is low and the coloring is a little sleepy. Color temperature can be adjusted.
There are times when switching between apps or rotating the screen is slow, but it's enough to close your eyes and it works minimally for everyday use. Browse effortlessly. Except for heavy Twitter genuine clients, it will be a level that many people can endure.
It is interesting that a unique method of "flicking with two fingers from the top of the screen" is possible for calling multi-windows. It is a function that was also appealing in OPPO Find N.
However, apps such as the camera app and Netflix do not support screen splitting, and in the first place, screen gestures cannot be used when the screen is vertical, so usability is not necessarily good. It's not such a big problem for people who only use it in landscape mode, and multi-window can be invoked in other ways.
Due to the screen ratio, the margins are a little worrisome when reading manga on e-books, but the absolute screen size has been secured, so you should be able to read both double-page spreads and short pages. Perfect for watching 16:9 videos. Even a slight black belt is hardly noticeable due to the black frame.
Also, copyright protection is a blind spot for cheap tablets. With Widevine L1 support, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video can be played back in high definition.
The feature of this unit is equipped with quad speakers that support Dolby Atmos. It can be said that the sound quality is well balanced and high quality for this price range. Volume sound pressure is also no problem. Of course, the iPad Pro has a higher resolution than this unit, and the sound is divided and the bass range is more powerful, but if you don't compare it to such a high-end, I think it's necessary and sufficient.
Battery life is good with 7100mAh large capacity battery. The 18W fast charging is not enough, but it's a cheap tablet, so it's something like this.
Biometric authentication is not installed, only 2D face authentication is available. Face recognition when wearing a mask is also not supported, so the person wearing the mask will have to enter the passcode. Although it supports privacy functions such as locking the launch of specific applications and private folders, face authentication is required.
Cameras are all low-end and should be considered non-existent. It is necessary to divide with the content consumption machine. Even in the bright daytime outdoors, the details are blurry due to noise. The suggested retail price is $270. On Amazon, OPPO himself is selling this machine for $245.
Do you see it as expensive or do you see it as cheap? Chinese tabs are crowded in the $142 range, so it may feel expensive.
However, tablets in the $142 range are basically like toys. There are a lot of inferior products such as fraudulent products full of lies from the specification explanation , widevine L1 non-compliance , even vague technical suitability .
The truth is that it avoids competition in the price range where these tricks are rampant.
Even though it is relatively good, the performance and camera are absolutely low. As long as there are products with excellent cost performance such as low-priced iPad and Xiaomi Pad5, you may feel that the position of this unit is dangerous.
However, the iPad was also an impression of the $213 range, but the latest model announced the other day raised the price to the $427 range. The price of Xiaomi Pad 5, which has overwhelming performance and cost performance for just $285 has already been raised to the late $356 range at the exchange rate. In the tablet industry, where there is little competition, and with the price increases of competitive models, the OPPO Pad Air is actually a product in an exquisite position .
While it is doubtful whether a tablet in the $142 range is compatible with Widevine L1, it is well-suited as a video viewing device because of its excellent speaker features. I want a cheap tablet, but I don't want a bad one. It can be said that it is a powerful model that will be a candidate for consideration for such people. I think it's good enough for a home tablet that you don't want to spend money on.
Correction at 19:12: There was a description of 90Hz drive at the time of first appearance, but it is correct 60Hz drive. We apologize and will correct it.
OPPO FIND N
I love folding smartphones and have used many models so far. Regarding the "Galaxy Z series", I used all models of both Fold and Flip, but my favorite is the one that becomes a tablet when unfolded.
At the end of 2021, OPPO will released the folding smartphone "OPPO Find N", and I immediately purchased it. At first , I thought, "Is this the best foldable smartphone? "The conclusion did not suit me. I'm going to write specifically where I'm satisfied and where I'm dissatisfied.
Unexpectedly "heavy and small" OPPO Find N size feeling
First, I will briefly introduce Find N. Find N is OPPO's first foldable smartphone. Screen size of 5.49 inches when folded and 7.1 inches when opened.
The size when folded is close to the iPhone 13 mini . Find N is thicker and heavier, so it feels heavy when you hold it in your hand . One-handed operation is very comfortable because your fingers can reach all the way to the edges.
When unfolded, it quickly transforms into a 7.1-inch small tablet. It has a 120Hz AMOLED display, which is a beautiful depiction with good contrast.
Measures against creases are good, but holes are a hindrance
Open and there is a punch hole type in-camera hole on the upper left . I liked the Galaxy Z Fold3 because the camera was hidden under the screen, and I was able to use the screen spaciously and immerse myself in the content, so I was a little disappointed with the OPPO Find N with a hole in the screen. Personally, I don't feel the need for an in-camera on the main display side, as I don't have many opportunities to make video calls with my smartphone. It's in the way.
I could clearly see the creases on a folding smartphone such as the Galaxy Z Fold3, but I couldn't see them at all on the Find N. When I touched the central part, I was surprised because it was really flat. It doesn't matter if you can see the crease or not, but it definitely looks better, so I think this is great.
camera
The camera configuration is as follows.
- Wide angle: 50 million pixels
- Ultra wide angle: 16 million pixels
- Telephoto: 13 million pixels
The cameras of many foldable smartphones are not particularly outstanding, and I have a strong impression that they can take good photos in any scene.
The main camera can produce a solid and clear image, and the telephoto and ultra-wide angles are within the practical range, so there are no particularly noticeable points. I feel that the camera performance is good enough. Below is an example.
battery
As for battery life, it depends on how you use it. I mostly use it for videos and SNS, and occasionally for games, but if I only use the main display, the power consumption speeds up, so I can barely last a day.
On days when I only use the sub-display, I checked at night and there was still about 30% remaining, so it should last a day or more. The charging speed is 33W, which is reasonably fast. It can be fully charged in less than an hour, making it easier to use than Z Fold3 (25W).
Compare with Galaxy Z Fold3
When using the Galaxy Z Fold3, the most subtle point was the "difficulty in using the sub-display". If the width is a little wider, it should be easier to use.
When the Find N is folded, it looks like a small smartphone, so I really like the aspect ratio of a normal smartphone.
When I opened the Find N, it was a little horizontal, so I thought it would be suitable for reading e-books and watching videos , but when I actually used it , I realized it wasn't. Although there is no particular dissatisfaction about novels etc., it is delicate about comics. Spread display on the Kindle app was not possible . Since one page is only displayed a little larger, choosing Z Fold3 will make reading more comfortable. It seems that it will be solved if optimization of the application is performed.
I was able to display two-page spreads on the free web manga site "My Neighbor's Young Jump," which I often use, but the amount of information is much less than Z Fold3 due to the display area limitations due to the punch holes .
Although it is a video viewing, it is almost equal when Z Fold3 is not rotated. When rotated, the Z Fold3 has fewer black bars on the top and bottom, and you can feel the difference.
To be honest, even if you display a video in full screen on the Find N, there is not much difference from displaying it on a large smartphone in the latter half of 6 inches. With the Z Fold3, the difference is widened as it is, so it is differentiated, but if you are used to a smartphone with a large size, you may feel that the size of the Find N is unsatisfactory.
The Z Fold3 can be laid horizontally for a more spacious and comfortable viewing experience.
For browsing websites, the Z Fold3 is definitely more comfortable . I think it's more suitable for vertical because it requires less scrolling. As for games, Find N has an aspect ratio close to a square, so if you play a horizontally long game, the display will be buggy or it will interfere with the punch holes, so there were many games that were difficult to play. It can be improved by changing the display to 16: 9, but there will be bands at the top and bottom, so this is the same as playing on a smartphone.
Vertical games are fine too, but many games force you to rotate .
I think the big appeal of foldable smartphones is that they are similar in size to tablets, and you can enjoy consuming content anytime .
But honestly , the Find N's 7.1-inch size, which is very middling, doesn't feel that much of a benefit . A phablet rather than a tablet. Galaxy Z Fold3 is more comfortable for videos, e-books, browsing, games, everything.
Find N is more like a tablet when opened and a small smartphone when closed, but more like you can freely switch between a large smartphone and a small smartphone.
After all, aspect ratios close to square are not suitable for foldable. The only benefit that can be obtained is that it can be used with the same size as a smartphone when the screen is split.
Overall review
Find N did not sting. I think it's good for people who usually use a small smartphone but want to expand it to a slightly larger size. If you imagine a feeling similar to a tablet, you will fail, so be careful.
